About Paediatric Dentist Dr Gabrielle Smart BDS BSciDent (Hons) DClinDent (Paed) FRACDS (GDP) FRACDS (Paed)

I completed my Bachelor of Dental Surgery with a concurrent Bachelor of Applied Science in Dentistry (Honours) at the University of Adelaide in 2010. I have since completed a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (Paediatric Dentistry), also at the University of Adelaide in 2015. I am a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in both General and Specialist Dental Practice. I worked at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital as a Consultant Paediatric Dentist until mid 2023 and have now taken on the dream of my own practice, with the support of my husband Jimmy and two young children. Away from work I enjoy time with family, horse riding, water skiing and pottering with the kids in the veggie patch.

About Oral Health Therapist & ADOHTA Advocacy Director Tim Budden MPH, MHA

Tim Budden is an Oral Health Therapist who graduated from his Bachelor of Oral Health in 2011, and went on to complete the Graduate Certificate in Oral Health Science in 2018 in order to expand his scope of practice. Not having done enough study, he recently completed a Master in Public Health and Master in Health Administration at Monash University where he received the School of Public Health & Preventive Medicine Student Excellence Award.

Tim currently works in the South Australian Department of Health and Wellbeing as the A/Director for National Policy and Funding. Prior to this, Tim worked for eight years in the public dental service in South Australia with particular interest in prison health, special needs dentistry (in particular, oral cancer and HIV) and disability.

In 2020 Tim made the leap from clinical oral health practice to leading the contact tracing team in South Australia during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. To keep up to date with his clinical skills Tim occasionally tutors fourth year dental students at the University of Adelaide during their paediatric rotation and does locum work in private practice. As a passionate advocate for his profession Tim is also the current Advocacy Director for the Australian Dental and Oral Health Therapists' Association (ADOHTA) and a Colgate Advocate for Oral Health.
